Chimney Sweep Useful Tip:

Installing a wood stove insert
If you have an open fireplace in your home, you can understand that such kind of fireplaces produce a lower amount of heat. Open fireplaces also cause smoke pollution inside the home, which any homeowner doesn't want to experience, that's why wood stove inserts are used in fireplaces. The wood stove inserts are mainly used in masonry fireplaces because this kind of fireplaces produces an inefficient amount of heat. In addition, masonry fireplaces create pollution, which is unbearable for any individual. By installing a wood stove insert, you can improve the efficiency of a fireplace and also make it safer.

Choose a fireplace insert:
While you are looking to buy a fireplace insert, you should buy it according to the dimensions of your fireplace. It should not be too smaller or bigger than the fireplace's entrance. To buy a perfect model you should check the height, width and depth of the fireplace. This will provide you an overview of which dimension's fireplace insert will be perfect for your fireplace. Usually fireplace inserts are heavier in weight, so while you buy it, check it is certified or not. Prefer a certified insert to have long lasting service.

Adding a full vent pipe inside the fireplace:
While you are adding an insert inside the fireplace, you should do it with reline. A full vent pipe is useful to remove smoke out of the house. Usually in traditional style's fireplaces or in masonry fireplaces, vent pipe is not used because the smoke escape out through the chimney. Well, you can have two different options of using reline; either you can choose full vent pipe or direct connect reline. In full size vent pipe, the smoke escape out into the atmosphere and in direct connect reline, smoke is released into the chimney flue and then it goes out through the chimney.

Connect the vent pipe to fireplace insert:
If the vent pipe installation is completed, now you have to connect it with the fireplace insert. To connect the vent to the insert, check at the top of the insert, you will find an escape hole. You should choose the vent pipe right according to the dimensions of the smoke removing hole. Now place the insert inside the fireplace and then carefully connect the vent pipe with the top hole of the insert. Use a nut clip to keep the connection tight because the smoke may come out through loose connections of the vent pipe and insert.

Thus the fireplace insert will be installed and there are a few tips, which you should follow. If the vent pipe is larger than the size of the chimney, then cut it near the crown and fix it there. Cover the chimney crown with a metal cap to prevent entrance of rainy water. Now your fireplace is ready to provide the heat without causing pollution and irritation inside the home. There are multiple fire place inserts available in the market, which you can choose to use at your home. Always prefer one, which is able of offering good heat by using less fuel.
