Chimney Sweep Useful Tip:

Get rid of hardened creosote by using a creosote remover toss in canister
The creosote remover toss in canister is premeasured to offer easy application. The heat has to activate the granules and it prevents the buildup of dangerous creosote which is the main cause of the chimney fires. You only have to toss the canister in the fire and its chemical will vaporize into granules and it travels up to the chimney in order to incorporate the creosote in the brushable ash. This is not going to harm the catalytic converter and it is safe for different types of the chimneys, woodstoves and fireplaces inserts, free burning fireplaces or airtight stoves. For maintenance, the canister has to be tossed in the fire at least on weekly basis. The cellulose tube is safe in the ashes.

It is important to use creosote remover toss in canister during the circumstances which lead to too much formation of the creosote. Unseasoned and wet wood causes too much creosote since it burns cool. The cool fire makes three byproducts which are all negative. The wood does not burn completely and the smoke has high carbon particles that make more creosote compared to hot fire. Cooler smoke in the firebox and chamber increase the problem because it makes the smoke more condense in the creosote. The cooler fire cannot produce too much draft compared to hot fire so the smoke moves slowly into the chimney and it get too much time to form the deposits and to condense.

Another reason that causes the creosote is when the fireplace inserts vents into the large flue. A large flue continues to be cool and the same wet wood factors repeats itself. During the first stage to remove the soot, is to remove the ashes, they can be removed with a dry or wet vacuum with a bag which is disposable. You can also remove the ashes by using a scoop and a metal trash container when the fire is completely down. To remove the soot and the cloudy film found on the glass door, use a mix of warm water and white vinegar and use a spray bottle.

The creosote remover toss in canister offers many benefits as a soot remover. It is packaged easily in the package and you only have to toss the container into the fire for at least once every week so that the chemical in the creosote may loosen up the creosote and it can turn into the ash which prevents further build up. There is nothing to measure; you only have to toss the canister inside the fire. When the creosote buildup is not removed, it puts the home at risk of fire.

However, even if you may be using the creosote remover toss in canister regularly, this does not mean that you should not clean your chimney. The canisters are safe to be used in any type of chimney or wood burning fireplaces. You will also have to get all the cleaning supplies you need to clean the chimney such as goggles, dust mask , dustpan, broom, a tall ladder, a plastic tarp, a small stiff wire brush and chimney brush extension pipe.
